Everyone knows that global warming is a serious problem, but how serious? How long have we got to solve the problem? How much of our pollution can be absorbed by the earth? We know that our energy consumption is big but how big in comparison to sustainable energy resources? We need simple numbers not adjectives!
We aim to provide complete and factual information on climate change and energy to civil society, politicians, companies and other organisations. We aspire to a balanced, quantitative, and scientific approach.
We have a practical outlook. We ask: what is actually required to solve the problem in quantitative terms? We are in favour of technology and economic instruments which can make a real difference. For example, we’re generally positive towards nuclear power and carbon taxation.
We are politically moderate - We’ll need companies, governments, and the public to work together if we are going to solve the problem. We concentrate on where we can make a difference - aiming to take advantage of the points of political pressure and influence. We have a realistic and positive attitude. Our focus is actions that can be adopted and are attractive on a national level but that can be adopted worldwide. We can do it!
We have less baggage than NGOs such as Greenpeace. We are just focussed on climate change and energy! Our network includes a diverse range of people with different types of experience.
